The Simple Press Forum plugin for WordPress is one of the most popular and comprehensive solution to extend his WordPress blog to a forum. I also use it in my Mark Knopfler guitar style blog . This is an option, a blog article automatically link to a forum discussion. However, the Simple Press forum only option when creating an article (or vice versa when creating a forum thread) to automatically create an associated, linked forum thread (or blog post) in which is to take place the future discussion.
Has - as has happened with me - but already a discussion in the forum develops, which refers to an article, it is not easily possible to link articles and forum topic later. In this article I will describe how to do this yet. Requirement is only that you have access to the database of blogs, because you must manually edit them.
Method
1st Change the WordPress backend in the Edit mode (Articles -> Edit) and edit the article to be linked to a forum thread. Bottom of the page you can link the item with a new forum thread. Hook it and update articles. You should see the article a link to a blank, and in the same Forum Topic Forum Topic again appear as a link back to the article.
2nd Now you need to edit your database. Most providers offer the opportunity to realize this through phpmyadmin. Otherwise, a Google search using the keywords such as "edit mysql database" to help you. In the database, locate the key wp_sftopics (the prefix wp_ you named when you create your blog may vary). Show all entries of this key now, so you can see a table in which the rows correspond to their forum topics. Find the lowest, most recent line that the still empty, automatically meets in step 1) Forum Topic generated. There is a column called blog_post_id, which will be available for most row to 0 in the forum topics but appears linked to the ID number of the associated article. Note the number that stands at the lowest entry. You need this now (instead of 0) in the next line, which stands for the forum topic that you want to link to the article. In their forum then it should already be a link from this forum topic to the article.
Remember here yet now the ID of the forum topics you want to link to.
3rd Delete the entire bottom row (ie the new blank forum topic). Delete this not to Simple Press Forum itself, otherwise the link is also deleted from the article on the forum topic.
4th It must be added the link of the article are adapted to the forum topic (which has yet to empty, just deleted topic). You open the key to this show and wp_postmeta. There are probably quite a long list, look for the latest of them, who stood with me on the last page of the list, so the very bottom. You see, the values meta_id, post_id (the number of the article you wish to link to you), metakey (here should already "forum link" position) and meta_value. In meta_value appeared in my "2 @ 30", where the 30 is the ID of the forum topics is linked. In my case I wanted to Topic link 25 instead of 30, so I had to change this value to "2 @ 25" (I do not know what the 2 stands). The number that you use here must be the ones you have noticed in the last step of 2). Then should the link from the article on targeting the desired forum thread.
5th When recreating the linked forum Topics in Step 1 was generated to the topic already has a new, blank forum post. Show example in the sidebar, a list of recent forum posts, this post will appear empty even on this list, so you should delete them in the database. You see the key wp_sfposts, probably at the bottom of the list because it is one of the newest entries in chronological order. Here again delete all the appropriate line.
Last night we were still comfortably watch a movie in our home theater (sounds so pretentious, the fact that we have no TV, but watching movies with beamer is), but then it happened: As usual, went the lens cover of the projector on , but the lamp remained dark. Instead, two blinking LEDs on the device, which means "lamp defective" according to instruction or "maximum life span reached the lamp." A replacement lamp we had of course not available - at a price of about € 250, - solely for the lamp, no part of which is lying in times just as in stock on the shelf (especially lamps age and unused and the warranty expires).
I then googled times according to current prices for a replacement lamp and by whether there might be another explanation for the dark Keep the projector. In fact, I discovered the following: In a forum I found a reference to the fact that it in our Sanyo PLV-Z4 interior is a bimetal switch, which tends to eliminate excessive heating of the projector. Theoretically, this switch after it cools off again, this does not seem to do it often, but it gets stuck somehow. A simple press of this switch seems to have already solved similar problems for many owners of this projector.
Figure 1: Remove these three screws on the back ...
Figure 2: ... and these three on the bottom of the Sanyo PLV-Z4
Unfortunately, said the switch is not accessible from outside so that you must open the projector. For this I had three screws and remove three screws back down (see Figures 1 and 2). The bimetal switch is in the back left (when facing the device, so the lens is front right, see Figure 3 and 4). When I pressed a finger on the switch, I heard a faint "click". Then screwed together and try again, and - voila ... - hit: Flawless picture, as some would never have been Even the successor Sanyo PLV-Z5, it seems to give these emergency switch also unchanged.

Figure 4: Squeeze me
I would like to stress expressly that I can take no responsibility for, of course, such an intervention, say you send the better beamer for a lot of money for repairs Furthermore, had the overheating and thus the starting of the bimetal switch may have a special reason, such as a clogged air filter or high ambient temperature. This reason must be turned off at first (we had the air filter clogged cleared, which was easy to fix by removing the corresponding parts and sucking).
Our movie night could be saved in any case and ultimately the lamp is lit on merrily for a long time ... hopefully ...
PS: Our lamp is 1500 hours, the lifetime is given as 2000 hours.

Here's a direct link to the replacement lamp from Amazon, but even if it was the lamp itself:
As so often with new equipment also appeared with my new video camera Sony CX 106 on after a few days the first hiccups. Here also the right solution.
Problem: filming oneself, it seems inevitable that all the videos start with the fact that you yourself directly in front of Kamarea is (because it has since just pressed the record button) and then only for its intended position occupies the end, then vice versa: One approaches the camera to stop recording by pressing a button. It would be nice here, a remote control that is lacking in most low-priced cameras. So you have to remove the first and last seconds of a video then.
In the first attempt I've tried this, the editing function of the camera itself. Indeed, one can share photos on the camera itself. For this purpose you choose the recording controls to the desired location and then cuts. The parts can then be trimmed to remove the camera. When I tried to copy then the so-cropped video to the hard disk of my notebook, I noted that the associated video file itself (ie the *. mts file) was cut, but apparently only one playlist for this video was altered. With the supplied software from Sony but this was then cut to the hard drive (as a new, slightly shorter *. m2ts file). Oddly, this file from the Media Player from Windows 7 was played flawlessly, but with the VLC player was not exactly in sync sound and image (the sound was about 0.5 seconds too late). If you load this file up on Youtube, I had to find that also were not snychron picture and sound.
So I tried it with other methods to cut the file. Of course you can accomplish with a full-fledged video editing program like Adobe Premiere, but I found nowhere a way that's changing as new video file to store the entire video without re-rendered - and therefore erneit compressed - is. I was sure that it had yet to be any freeware tools, but the result of the Google search was quite meager. Apparently it is more difficult to edit a AVCHD file as an AVI file for example, for which he gives numerous tools. Still, I found a few tools, of which the most promising tsMuxer TSREMUX and impacts. Hereby, I found no setting to change the split point really frame should be specified instead, leaving only the position set in whole seconds. Watch out the way: In TSREMUX are the positions of the front or rear indicated counted in seconds. So if you want minutes, for example by a video length of 2:20 to cut the first two and last three seconds, you have no starting point and end point of 0:02 indicate 2:17, but the starting point and end point 0:02 0:03!
Problems with trimming TSREMUX
Unfortunately, was not in sync with the so-cut video image and sound.
Ultimately, it did work but then with the Sony software (PMB). The ability to cut is something hidden here, which is why I initially did not find (at manipulating trim / video). Here you can specify the split points frame accurate. The resulting file is both the VLC Player and Youtube plays fine. I suspect that when the solutions are not intersect frame accurate, sound and picture are not cut exactly the same.
Ultimately had to cut the video with the Sony software PMB
Since Christmas I have a new camcorder. After having my YouTube videos long with a Sony DV camcorder, and most recently with the digital camera Lumix FX-37 was filmed, but was now more and more the desire for a "modern image", ie 16:9 widescreen format in high resolution Full-HD. While filming the Lumix immerhinh HD (720p), but is out of the question regarding sound quality.
It's now easy to collect before you buy a lot of information on the individual models from all manufacturers. But the amount of information just makes it often difficult to keep it a clear view. So I quickly realized that each camera its own strengths and weaknesses in most other areas had. Also found on the net almost every opinion and the counter-opinion. Anyway, I decided to go first for the Panasonic SD 10 This was at various online vendors for about 350, - € to have, while at Saturn at least 448, - € cost. Thus it is clearly one of the most affordable full-HD camcorder.
Panasonic SD 10
The SD 10 is extremely small and light. Her smooth plastic housing, they can tend to seem cheap. She takes in the AVCHD format (. Mts) with a maximum of 17 Mbit / s SD card (not included!), Which fit on a 4GB card about 25 minutes of video. Like all cameras without tape, disk or DVD drive is totally silent. Her plus points include a very good optical image stabilization, a very thoughtful and intuitive menu navigation with touch screen and a very good audio quality (even manually headroom). The optical zoom is 16-fold and thus sufficient.
Already at the first falls on the same test images that the camera barely allows wide-angle (42 mm based on small picture). The image appears on the small display, but sharp, but already this fall on the relatively weak colors. Now you put the SD card into the laptop and watching the recordings at full resolution, confirmed this impression. The image looks dull and overcast with a pink-gray veil. You manually change some settings - such as white balance or color scheme - the image is yellowish or bluish, but always remains somewhat murky. In low light the camera will then completely limp and always grayer images.
This impression is confirmed if the picture quality of SD 10 to the very good side of Videoaktiv considered. This was also obvious that the Panasonic SD 10 provides less sharp images than most competing models. Guilt is (has a full HD picture with 1920 pixels by 1080 about 2 megapixels) with a too small 1/6-inch image sensor with 1.47 megapixels gross only. For me this was the end for this camera, which therefore went back.
Some further details of the SD 10:
- If you fold the screen by 180 degrees around so that they can see themselves in movies, she hides parts of the operating menu, ie, there is indeed a monitor, the camera can not operate from the front.
- The charger is the same power supply, you can not charge the battery while you're shooting with power supply.
- Sometimes the picture quality can be improved by increasing the edge enhancement and color intensity in the menu, but the picture was pink appearance (see below).
- The battery time is about an hour
Sony HDR CX 105 / 106
After I quite accurately the test images of different camcorder had studied at Videoaktiv to kristallisiserten out the following alternatives: the more expensive Panasonic SD 200 (from 600, - €) has a good picture, but still less wide angle. Seemed pretty good the more expensive Sony models like the CX 505 or 520, but also one of the least about 1000, - must fork out €. In relation to the Sony CX 105 high image quality (except in extremely dark scenes, test images here ) and only costs about as much as the SD 10 Why I had not originally considered in the shortlist, was the fact that she does not receive on an SD card, but in its internal memory (8 GB) or Memory Stick. But as you can also read the Menory Stick through normal multi-card reader easily into the PC, I opted for this model now.
When searching for the cheapest price I noticed that the same apparently still camera is sold under a different name: Sony HDR CX 106 (instead of 105). The only difference between the otherwise identical models, the CX 106 allows a bit more digital zoom, but is instead available only in silver, black or red. Supposedly, the CX 106 is the version for the retail trade and the CX 105 for all other providers. With photo Hamer she was just on sale: 359, - € - I got hold of stock so that the last copy.
The Sony CX 106 acts due to the slightly higher weight and more rugged black plastic case (it is silver and black) and massive something nobler. Already on the screen the image looks natural, yet colorful. The sound is excellent. It has only 10-times optical zoom and only an electronic image stabilizer. Also, they can be operated via touch screen and also takes as AVCHD (. Mts files) to a maximum of 16 Mbit / s. Unlike the Panasonic can also record images with low image resolution, also known as MPEG-2.
Dealing with the camera is easy. Even with the automatic settings, the picture is good, can be set manually with the parameters sufficient for most applications. Total seems to me but the menu of the Panasonic-thought. I keep the Sony, because they for little money and delivers excellent picture and sound quality for most applications is quite sufficient.
For 66, - € I purchased another VLC 0630X wide conversion from Sony, with which the camera should be used more flexibly.
I was already quite a long time looking for a media player to play in our home theater all the multimedia files that are about on various PCs in our household. Actually thought of this BluRay player LG 390 has a total yet in this regard turned out to be flop.
By Emtec N200 but I have finally found a solution. For a price of about € 99, - you get a media player, the files from both USB disk, SD card takes over the network. He not only supports FAT32-formatted USB media, but also NTFS, which is especially important for high-definition videos, as FAT32 only allows a maximum file size of 4 GB. All my USB devices - various sticks and hard drives - have been directly detected without exception (which is not self-evident). The detection of network computers is working very well be occasions where not set up the PC as a UPNP server must be sufficient, easy sharing of folders. With an optional adapter, the integration of WLAN instead of LAN is possible.
The N200 is extremely compact and also has an elegant. The housing is made of metal, so finally no plastic part. For the image he has HDMI connection for digital multichannel optical digital output, but also analog outputs (YUV, RCA video) not be missing if you have no digital connectivity.
The big plus is the Emtec N200, the number of supported formats: ZunÃähst was important for me that can play DVDs copied to HD. Here he not only plays - from the VOB files themselves, but also supports IFO files, so that the DVD is "normal" look, so with menu, chapters, and language - how many other devices (like the WD HD TV) can. Super! The number of different video formats speaks for itself: AVI, MKV, TS, MPG, MP4, MOV, VOB, ISO, IFO, DAT, WMV, RM, RMVB, resolution up to 720p/1080i/1080p. Codecs: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 HD, HD MPEG-4 SP / ASP / AVC (H.264), WMV9 (VC-1), RealNetworks (RM / RMVB) 8/9/10, up to 720p. So far, everything geklaptt smooth and fluid, except for a MOV file (720p), which lurched over the network. However, I have obviously not even able to test all of the formats.
The audio formats (MP3, OGG, WMA, WAV, AAC, FLAC) are extremely diverse: In addition to the standard MP3 and WMA and WAV fact he plays, so uncompressed ripped from CDs and even Flac, ie lossless compressed audio.
Photos can of course also look at, etc. as a slide show with music and various transition options
Internet radio is possible (not yet tested).
Overall, I am fully satisfied, because for me the important formats will be played in flawless quality.
Some Minsupunkte:
- The remote control is quite small and looks cheap. - If you switch the device goes with the remote control, it completely (no standby, and therefore no power consumption), but you can turn it on, therefore, not again with the remote control, but must use setlich instructions marked on the pressure switch.
For several days we have a new digital camera - the Lumix FX37 from Panasonic (The following information concerning the video functions are also valid for the successor model FX40). This gave it a price of 198, - € for Saturn (which corresponds to current Amazon price). The camera makes using 10 mega-pixel digital photos in stunning quality. In today's article, however, it should go more to the option of video-filming with this camera.
The Lumix FX 37 is in fact able to record HD videos, although not full HD, but at least 1280 x 720 pixels (720p). This circumstance, the price and compact size make it an interesting alternative to appear to rotate about videos for YouTube.
Even when the camera falls to the excellent quality of the display, which faithfully reproduces all the objects in front of the Leica lens. In video mode takes the Lumix movies in Apple Quicktime format (file extension *. MOV), which is quite common and therefore supported by most video editing programs to and from youtube. However refused Quicktime (latest version) to play the videos (it appears only as a shadowy figure). VLC Media Player fully addressed this task without problem, so I just avoided this and still have not searched for the causes.
But even on a correspondingly large computer display to see the videos perfectly. However, the sound quality is much weaker: audio is recorded namely kHz only in mono with a sampling rate of only 16 (the famous CD-quality stereo at 44.1 kHz means). Here are some competing models much better.
On an SD card of 2GB at least match seven minutes HD video. For longer recordings, you can also reduce the resolution. I decided, therefore, for a 4 GB card, its cost (15, - € for a superior quality) is not all fall into too much weight.
Weaknesses of the video function
While the picture quality is very good even, one has to deal essentially with two restrictions: First, it is not possible to zoom while recording. The optical 5x zoom before recording must therefore be adjusted accordingly and will be maintained for the duration of the recording. It is therefore not possible to show first a long shot and then gradually zoom in on a detail. For other controls the Focus not on the Lumix during video recording. If the image is as sharp in a long shot and it pivots on such a detail in the foreground, it can be fuzzy. However, since the depth of field is quite large, this fact is in most situations do not continue. It is easy for example, only one propelled me on to me and then passing skateboard rider ever to shoot sharp.
I will certainly use the Lumix for my youtube videos, because I use the 4:3 format of my older camcorder'm not really happy.
To conclude with one of the first test with the Lumix recorded video. As the quality has remained even after the upload to youtube very good (full resolution, no further treatment or conversion on my part), one can even gain a good impression of the picture and sound quality. The video shows my guitar solo of the song Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits.
