forrest-gump Forrest Gump - a film about an idiot with an IQ of 75 and how he lives his life - was a film of which I had little expected of me but then equally enthusiastic. Since I count among my personal hero Forrest Gump (I have even a considerable number of Forrest-Gump-quotes for occasional in-the-round-throwing). Why? Do I want to be an idiot, perhaps, or what?

The fact is that - apart from the low IQ - Forrest Gump fooling us how we should live and act. Even many of the approximately from Zen Buddhism target characteristics on the road to enlightenment lives Forrest Gump us like no other.

Recently I came across even on a book called The Forrest Gump Principle-by Renate Schmidt, which is precisely those qualities and way of life dedicated to. These are:

  • Simplicity of thought: to see things as they are, without it being filtered through acquired concepts to perceive
  • Stamina: things run through to the end
  • Clarity of action: straightforward, effective action
  • Focusing on one thing: Like a Zen master said, "If I eat, then I do not eat as if I sleep, I sleep." If Forrest Gump is running, then it runs, he plays tennis, he plays just ping-pong.
  • No pursuit of personal success: honor and glory may be pleasant, but they must come of themselves without that one seeks.
  • Authenticity: Always stay to yourself, never pretend to be different than you are.

Another statement of the film by the way: If you live in such and act, raises a byproduct of success itself. Not only Forrest Gump becomes a millionaire, the bearer of the Medal of Honor, a celebrity, transforms our lives automatically for the better, if only "immediately" and is sincere.

Some quotes:

Lt. Dan: "To raise money we need to make us ever more worried." - Forrest Gump: "That is good, one less worry."

Lt. Dan: "I was someone who I was ... Lieutenant Dan." - Forrest Gump: "You are still Lieutenant Dan."

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you get."

"Stupid is who stupid does."
