The LG X110 netbook

At our school - I work as a teacher - recently ran a number of colleagues on a new netbook, which is a mini-notebook with most 10 "diagonal screen. Especially for teachers such a device is of course very convenient: It can be almost anything a laptop can, but it fits comfortably in my bag, no one would have to carry a second bag or needs to be afraid, when hitting the bag, the expensive laptop to destroy. Since last week, I am also part owner of such.

On the market, some devices seem to cavort with the same features: a standard in the price range of about 400, - €, an Intel Atom CPU, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive and 10 inch TFT Dsiplay seems to be. Then just this week at Saturn, the LG X110 with this equipment for 379, - € was on offer and the seller assured me that it had everything the competition offers, I immediately purchased this resolved shortly. Today, a week later, I think an ASUS Eee PC 1000H in your hand, say the court went back to Saturn (a big plus for Saturn: the return for cash was hassle). Why? What were the weaknesses that have led me to take this step?

The ASUS Eee 1000H - for me the better netbook

The X110 is an extremely light weight (1.2 kg) and also correspondingly flat. Beautiful. I was not very conclusive about the color: it was white with black outside (I opted for) or offered in all white, otherwise I would have chosen more of a dark version.
The first minus point was the horrible sound quality of the built-in speaker. Clearly, at this size is expected to neither hi nor rich bass, but this shrill, exclusively consisting of treble sound came before me strangely. According to the seller agrees it would be normal, but not the Asus sounds much better.

My colleagues have integrated Bluetooth in their netbooks either, or else (the Medion) they must plug in a mini-USB Bluetooth connector. I was not sure if the LG X110 has Bluetooth at all. On the package there was nothing to it (what little there was anyway) and the manual was just not there: no paper manual, no software installation manual. Instead, it was enclosed on a CD. Since netbooks but have no CD drive, this one fact is already a little strange. Without an external CD-Rom drive here goes nothing. In this guide, I just thought that Bluetooth is optional and is therefore installed only in some models. The X110 is not definitive.

What caused me more grief, was the fact that some manufacturers equip their models with a 6-cell battery, one with a 3-cell battery. This was the explanation for the light weight, it was just only a 3-cell, and battery life is perhaps the most important feature for many users.

After I had read in a forum that the X110 is the on board RAM, so firmly soldered on the motherboard and therefore not interchangeable and expandable, I had enough and brought it back.

I would even like the Asus taken, the section in some tests very well, especially with long battery life seems to be a plus on the Asus. Unfortunately, the Asus Eee 1000H at Saturn was much more expensive (429, - €). In contrast, it was Amazon for 399, - to have (unfortunately I do not belong to the patient of his contemporaries, if I want something, you prefer to immediately ;) . Luckily I have therefore looked over at Karstadt: also 399, - €, in white or black, just to take away :)

The weight is 1.45 kg compared with 1.2 alm slightly larger in the LG X110, but it is the power supply is much smaller and lighter (which is indeed one lug in the bag). The LG X110 the power cord was also a three-pole version with thick plug with ground pin (although the cable from the power supply to the netbook was only two poles anyway, so mass-free) and was therefore difficult and quite rigid, so not poke the well in the pocket.

Our son Tim also like the design of the 1000H significantly better. It also has Bluetooth and it is a chic zippered pouch included. Another difference is a matter of taste: X110 When you scroll with the Finder on the right edge of the touchpad, the Asus you have to take up with these two fingers and somewhere on the touchpad or shutdown.

Again, the weak points of the LG X110 in the summary: easy, but not just because of 3-cell battery, no Bluetooth, expandable memory, lousy sound, thick power cable (!)

  1. The LG X110 has Bluetooth and of course depending on the equipment. Also you can add more RAM, since a second RAM slot is free. The LG is also available with integrated UMTS modem that it is not even optional on the EEE PC 1000H. Therefore, I regret to say that this report contains some errors that would not have occurred at a closer look and better information.

  2. Yes, there is probably also a version with Bluetooth, which is more expensive. I have referred explicitly only to the Saturn offer. A free RAM slot would be very good, you can throw out without expanding the existing need to. Here I admittedly based on forum reports (with photos of the interior), which was criticized in the open, I did not. With the Asus I'm still satisfied, especially the battery life has been important to me.

  3. Hello,
I also bought one at Saturn X110 and am super happy.
've Also only 333, - € paid. Probably a few days later was it.
In my opinion, the netbook is its monetary value.

  4. 333, - is a really good price. Here (Ruhr) costs it at Saturn is still 379, -.

  5. Hi,

I bought my Eee PC 1000H with MEMA, but for 399 EUR. It was the penultimate white netbook. Seems to be really popular because you were on a black case very clearly sees the fingerprints. It was not a bad buy. I'm super happy with it, especially on the very bright adjustable display and very long battery life.

  6. So I'm going to write down my times suggestive of the LG X112, because I'm grundaufbegeistert of this little thing!
optically firstonce a clear advantage for asus, also a powerful knockout for me the world can be on warcraft (also instances) to play on the LG X112, run the same media player, and watch a movie nachgucken emails from an internet site!
the integrated cam is suoi, micro speakers are also ok ...
But all in all, a small beautiful i love it!

  7. Hello,
I bought last week and the EeePC 1000H in black.
I'm actually very happy it's the best PC for my purposes
I go to 80% and I'm the only 1000H for light office purposes, for
    Internet use and as Navi.
But there is one thing that bothers me too much, and that the fan is incredibly loud.
It is not just a "normal" fan hum but a loud clatter.
The rattle disappears when I tap lightly on the case, however, comes again after a short time.
Market will therefore again go to the media if this is normal rattle can I imagine not.
Did any of you / them such a problem with a fan that rattles very uncomfortable?
Would be very pleased in that respect opinions. (The rattle is not from the HD)

    Andi Mfg.

  8. No, I'm definitely not one rattle, my fan is extremely quiet.

  9. @ DA
The Lüftgeräuch you get off to 100%, that is when it is turned off. How do we get our Asus Eee PC 1000H quiet and have increased even while the running time on real 6 hours, says our report .

  10. I'm on the 31st x110 October 08 bought at Saturn ...

last weekend I sold it on Ebay, the buyer now asks me where is the manual ...
and so far I have not taken to a manual ...
So, while I've had one either ...
furthermore I think a recovery CD for the netbook quite right help. Only where so pure ....

Well, now I have my HTC Touch Diamond ...

    Hello,
The X110 is not that great. I've just spoken with the LG support,
    regarding the battery capacity.

I have, the problem is that when an inserted battery capacity within 24 h
falls 12% - to about 10. This means that after about 9 days, the unit can not go higher.

The LG support says it is innherlb normal parameters.
    BITTEWAS!

    My view be absurd!
Unfortunately I have to live with it because the device can no longer be after 3 months back,
either in the shop where I bought it even at LG. I only say great support.

I've had several laptop, so not yet seen anything.
Therefore, I would recommend this netbook to anyone, and avoid in future LG products.

Hi, I bought just over two months, the LG X110 at Saturn for 379,-EUR, it serves as a second PC with me and for weekend home (mobile internet). The sound can be adjusted, if you turn off the sounds installed 3D sound is quite normal as the Asus. Initially, I was the short battery life is not disturbed because I always have a power outlet nearby, but now it bothers me because I also sometimes want to work without wires, the battery life is with me not even 2 hours - simply an impertinence. According to LG, it's probably my fault because I use a UMTS stick which also draws current. Well you can not have everything - too late and may be exchanged for returning the unit I'm tired because I had a PC with the schonmal - who was broken again as before. The battery is dead even with ausgeschaltenem unit after 3 days. Otherwise I'm happy with the device, it can do what I need. (Office, Mail, Music, Video and DVB-T stick and television).
I am of the opinion that all purchasers of this equipment free LG provides a new better battery - then it would be perfect. I can recommend this device because the battery life not because it is based on the same platform better devices from MSI, ASUS and Samsung.

.. definitely NOT a second RAM slot, processor and RAM are soldered onto the motherboard!

  15. Christmas 2009 and the LG X-110 purchased in white with UMTS, LAN and Bluetooth, with 1 GB of RAM and 160 GB HDD for just 299 Euronen. Is intended as a secondary device, that is on the move and ensure it is fairly well equipped. The Acculeistung for a mobile device is a joke, about 2 hours. Hope that the Accu somewhat stabilized after repeated charge-discharge cycles.
The graphics are fairly decent for the small monitor, keyboard comfortable to use. Am with the performance of children is actually satisfied, stop, and the netbook can not do everything.
Support from LG is a bit sparse, I wanted to know if and how the RAM can be upgraded. Answer: Yes, 2 GB DDR2 PC 5300 667 Mhz. No answer whether one or the two bolts, plug or soldered. This is more customer friendly elsewhere.
Manual - None, we need not either. Small tool system (CPU-Z) on board and I know what is installed.
Conclusion: Small, lightweight netbook for holidays etc., to checking email, surfing the Net and for small game. The Office for applications ranging from move too. However, it should always be an outlet nearby.
3 out of 5 stars for the X-110!
